What is a continuum of care? This term refers to a comprehensive approach to treating substance use disorder that offers different levels of care based on the individual’s needs at each stage of their recovery journey. At Recovery Centers of America, we believe in providing a continuum of care tailored to each patient’s unique needs, from detoxification and residential treatment to outpatient services and ongoing support.
Our goal is to provide a seamless transition for patients as they progress through various levels of care, striving to ensure they receive the appropriate treatment and support at every step. If you or a loved one is struggling with a substance use disorder, we’re here to help. Call 833.926.5486 today to discover the pathway to recovery that’s right for you.
How a Continuum of Care Can Support Your Recovery
One of the key benefits of a continuum of care is that it reduces the opportunities for patients to fall through the cracks. Treatment centers that only offer detox, for example, might provide high-quality care, but they may not have a plan in place for what happens after detox. Without support and a clear plan for that transition, people in recovery might not continue to receive treatment.
Why does it matter if people stay in treatment? When someone leaves treatment early – before they are ready – they are at higher risk for a relapse or return to use.1 Addiction isn’t just a physical disease; while going through detox and getting past withdrawal symptoms is important, it’s only a step in the journey. After detox, the next step is to treat the psychological and emotional aspects of addiction through therapy, support groups, and other evidence-based practices. This ongoing treatment can help patients develop coping skills and address underlying issues that may have contributed to their substance use.
Typically, those in recovery will step down to a lower level of care as they progress in their recovery journey. This may include transitioning from inpatient treatment to outpatient services or moving from partial hospitalization to intensive outpatient programs. By gradually decreasing the intensity of treatment, patients can continue to receive support while also building independence and self-sufficiency.
The RCA Continuum of Care
At Recovery Centers of America, we offer a continuum of care that includes detoxification, inpatient treatment, outpatient services, and ongoing support. Our experienced team works with each patient to create an individualized treatment plan that addresses their unique needs and goals for recovery.
By going through treatment at a location that offers a full continuum of care, patients can easily transition to the next level as needed without having to change locations or start over with a new treatment team. This seamless transition allows for continuity of care and supports the patient’s overall progress in recovery.
Our Pathways to Recovery
In addition to offering a full continuum of care, we’ve gone a step further and have created three unique pathways to recovery designed to meet patients where they are. These pathways include:
- Foundations of Recovery – Designed for patients who are entering treatment for the first time, this pathway focuses on building a strong foundation for recovery and developing essential skills for maintaining sobriety.
- Fresh Start – Those who have been in treatment before but have relapsed after a period of sobriety can benefit from another opportunity in treatment.
- Balance – Co-occurring mental health disorders and medical conditions often coexist with substance use disorder. This pathway is designed to address both issues simultaneously and promote overall balance and wellness.
Anyone who is struggling with the disease of addiction deserves a chance at recovery with the support they need to succeed. We’re working to break down the barriers to treatment and provide a continuum of care that meets the unique needs of everyone in our care.
