Frequently Asked Questions
Does insurance cover outpatient addiction treatment in Virgina?
Most major insurance plans cover outpatient addiction treatment. Under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, insurance providers are required to cover substance use disorder treatment at the same level as other medical conditions. RCA’s admissions team can verify your benefits quickly and confidentially, at no cost to you. Call us or submit your information online to find out what your plan covers.
What is the difference between PHP and IOP?
Both PHP and IOP enable you to live at home or in recovery housing during treatment. PHP involves 30 to 35 hours of weekly treatment over 5 or 6 weekdays and is appropriate for individuals needing intensive support while maintaining some daily responsibilities. IOP provides 9 to 12 hours of weekly treatment over 3 or 4 weekdays, with daytime and evening scheduling options.
Will my employer know I’m in treatment?
Treatment information is strictly confidential and protected by confidentiality laws. We do not contact employers or disclose treatment participation without your written consent. Many clients successfully complete treatment without workplace awareness.
How long does outpatient addiction treatment last?
Everyone’s recovery is unique, and the length of treatment is too. Typically, PHP lasts 2 to 4 weeks before transitioning to IOP, which continues for 8 to 12 weeks on average.
Treatment length is individualized based on your progress, needs, and personal circumstances, with flexibility to adjust intensity as needed.
Do I need a referral to start treatment?
No referral is needed to begin treatment with RCA Outpatient Services. You can call us directly, and our admissions team will guide you through the next steps, including a confidential assessment to determine the level of care that best fits your needs. If you’re transitioning from a hospital or another provider, we coordinate closely with referring teams to ensure continuity of care.
