Experienced marketing executive to lead brand strategy and growth
Recovery Centers of America (RCA) announced today that Joan Blackwood has joined the organization as chief marketing officer.
Blackwood has held marketing leadership roles at University of Phoenix, 1-800 Contacts, Zumba, Monster.com, and National Vision, in fields that include education, vision care, health and wellness, and career services. Throughout her career, she has built teams and developed leaders across the organizations she has served.
At RCA, Blackwood will lead brand and marketing strategy, with a focus on making it easier for people to find addiction treatment. That work includes supporting admissions and local outreach, and bringing the expertise of RCA’s clinical teams to a wider audience. She will also strengthen the RCA brand nationally while highlighting the people, expertise and community connections at each location, positioning RCA as both a nationally respected name and a trusted local resource.
“Marketing can help someone find care, give a family hope, and make taking that first step a little easier,” said Blackwood. “We have an opportunity to challenge stigma, reach people earlier, and keep alumni connected long after treatment ends. I want to help make RCA the name people know and trust when they’re ready to seek help, and the resource local providers rely on in every community we serve.”
“Joan brings a proven record of building trusted consumer brands and leading high-performing teams,” said Brett Cohen, CEO of Recovery Centers of America. “Her experience helping people make decisions that improve their lives will help more patients and families find their way to recovery.”
Blackwood earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University Bloomington.
