Is RCA at DevonRight for You?

RCA at Devon serves individuals from Philadelphia, the Main Line, Chester County, and the rest of the Greater Philadelphia area, including Wayne, Paoli, Berwyn, Malvern, King of Prussia, and West Chester. Transportation assistance is included if you are traveling from another state. You might consider treatment here if:

  • Alcohol or drug use keeps resurfacing despite your best efforts to stop or cut back.
  • You experience withdrawal symptoms such as shaking, sweating, a racing heart, or intense anxiety or dread when you try to stop substance use.
  • People close to you have started expressing concern about your substance use or mental health issues and how it’s affecting your life.
  • You’ve been through treatment before but relapsed and are looking for a different approach to recovery.
  • You’re struggling with a primary mental health condition such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia, or another mental health diagnosis and need a structured, residential environment to stabilize and begin treatment.
  • You want continued support after residential treatment. RCA at Devon offers outpatient programs and even on-campus sober living, giving patients the opportunity to transition into a supportive recovery environment without leaving campus.

For anyone in doubt about engaging in treatment, those who do so within one year of identifying a mental health disorder or substance use disorder typically expect better long-term outcomes than those who don’t [1].

Personalized Pathways:at RCA at Devon

Pathway 1 – Foundations of Recovery

For your first time in treatment

Designed for people experiencing addiction treatment for the first time, this pathway provides a supportive, educational environment where you can learn about addiction, connect with peers who are new to treatment, and discover the resources and tools available to support your recovery. You’ll build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to create a strong foundation for long-term recovery.

Pathway 2 – Fresh Start

For people who are entering treatment again

A return to substance use means the plan needs revising. Our Fresh Start pathway is designed to eliminate feelings of shame or guilt that may come with a return to use. It’s an opportunity to create new goals, re-establish a commitment to recovery, and build a healthy support system.

Pathway 3 – Balance

For addiction and mental illness together

Mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, and the effects of trauma are often intertwined with substance use disorder. Even medical conditions like chronic pain can contribute to the development of addiction. Our Balance pathway was created to address both addiction and these underlying conditions in a comprehensive and integrated way.

Pathway 4 – Restore

For adults with a primary mental health condition and no active substance use disorder

This is a residential program at RCA at Devon. The Restore Pathway provides a safe, therapeutic space focused entirely on emotional and psychological healing.

A Complete Continuum of Care

RCA at Devon offers addiction treatment across the full continuum of care, along with residential mental health treatment through the Restore Pathway.

Specialty Programs and Clinical Services Available at RCA at Devon

The clinical foundation of RCA at Devon is an evidence-based care model used across RCA, combining therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and motivational interviewing with daily group programming, individual therapy, and psychiatric support. Your team also uses measurement-based care to track your progress and help inform your treatment plan, while medication-assisted treatment (MAT) may be incorporated when clinically appropriate.

Case management helps address practical needs such as employer letters, court dates, insurance and benefits paperwork, and follow-up care before you leave treatment. Family education and support groups are offered before, during, and after your treatment, and with your consent, family involvement is encouraged. RCA’s alumni meetings and sober events help you stay connected to recovery for life.

RCA at Devon is also pet-friendly, pets accommodated according to campus guidelines, and private rooms may be requested, subject to availability. Pregnant women are given priority admission consideration.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

RCA at Devon evaluates and prescribes on-site, pairing every medication with counseling. Each is used only when clinically appropriate for your health and history.

  • Naltrexone – Dulls the euphoria of drinking and minimizes cravings. Oral or injectable formulations

Continuing Care,
Family, and Alumni Support

The structure and routine that you have in treatment—your schedule, clinical team, your community—don’t follow you home. That’s why we dedicate a case manager to you from Day 1 to help with your clinical, insurance, family, and discharge needs. Case management is one of seven core tenets that shape every RCA patient’s care.

Alumni programming, peer connections, and recovery events are available to all former patients and to anyone who needs connections to sober support. And because addiction affects the whole family unit, the people close to you can join family support groups, webinars, and events before, during, and after your stay.

Insurance and Payment

If you’re worried about the cost of treatment, our team helps you through it. When you call, we confirm your benefits and explain what your insurance plan covers for detox, residential care, residential mental health treatment, PHP, or IOP. Under federal mental health parity laws, many health insurance plans are required to provide coverage for mental health and substance use disorder treatment comparable to coverage for medical care. If there are costs your insurance doesn’t cover, we have interest-free payment plans.

Insurance verification is free and confidential, and there’s no obligation to begin treatment. Our goal is to help you understand your options so you can make an informed decision about your care.

Local Resources

Insurance, Benefits, and Employment Assistance

Medicaid Insurance

You may qualify for Medicaid with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. If you require health care coverage, your RCA case manager can help you apply/enroll at any time of year.

Having health insurance helps you access medical care, behavioral health services, medications, and ongoing recovery support after discharge. If you do not currently have health insurance, your RCA case manager can help you apply. This may include helping you determine if you qualify for coverage, completing applications, and connecting you with resources that can support your healthcare needs and recovery journey.

If you need help but are worried about taking time off work, your RCA case manager works with you and your employer to determine whether you are eligible for FMLA. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a federal law that may allow eligible employees to take time away from work for certain medical and family reasons while protecting their job. If you qualify, you may be able to take up to 12 weeks of protected leave.

Finding stable employment provides structure, financial stability, purpose, and opportunities for personal growth and is an important part of recovery. If you are unemployed, your RCA case manager can help connect you with community resources and vocational services that support job readiness and employment. This may include referrals to workforce development programs, career counseling, job training programs, resume-building assistance, interview preparation, and local employment agencies.

Help with Everyday Needs

Transportation

If you need a ride to your appointments, your RCA case manager provides you with transportation information and resources.

If you need housing while attending outpatient treatment, your RCA case manager helps you find the best housing option suited to your needs.

If you and your family are struggling to buy healthy food, your RCA case manager helps determine if you are eligible to apply for assistance and helps you apply for assistance through Pennsylvania’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

If you live in Pennsylvania, your RCA case manager can help you apply for benefits and services to help with things like energy and utility bills, food and cash, healthcare, pregnancy, children, disabilities and family emergencies. To learn more and apply for benefits, click here:

If you have legal concerns such as court obligations, probation requirements, child custody matters, driver’s license issues, housing disputes, or other challenges, addressing these concerns can help reduce stress and support long-term recovery. Your RCA case manager can help identify and connect you with resources and legal aid services to assist you after discharge.

If you have a scheduled court date or are currently working with a probation officer, it is important to follow all court requirements and maintain regular communication with your probation officer as directed. Your RCA case manager can help coordinate these important appointments or touchpoints.

If you prefer to reach out on your own, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania offers free legal help in civil cases for individuals who do not have a lawyer.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania offers services such as helping low-income residents access food assistance, medical assistance, and temporary cash assistance. They also aid with paying heating bills and can help collect and distribute child support payments.

Recovery & Treatment Support

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

If you are prescribed MAT like suboxone, buprenorphine, methadone, Vivitrol, or another prescription, your RCA case manager ensures that you have a scheduled appointment prior to your discharge so that you continue to take your medications as prescribed.

As you take your next steps in recovery, having the right people beside you is an important part of your recovery plan. Whether you find strength in shared experiences, encouragement from peers, or the accountability of a community, your RCA case manager will help you find support groups that feel like the right fit for you. And because recovery often involves the people who care about you most, we can also connect your family with support groups that provide guidance, understanding, and hope.

SMART Recovery is a self-help program to manage addictive behaviors. SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) recovery is based on evidence-informed psychological approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). Your RCA case manager can help you find a location near you.

Together with your RCA case manager, you will create a plan to support your recovery after treatment. This often includes a step-down level of care. Your RCA case manager helps you schedule your first appointment before you are discharged. Possible next steps may include:

Regular medical care can help identify and address health concerns early, improve your overall well-being, and ensure that you continue to receive the care you need after discharge. Your RCA can help schedule an appointment with your PCP before you leave RCA. If you do not currently have a PCP, your case manager can provide referrals and help connect you with a healthcare provider in your community.

Before you leave RCA, your case manager can help coordinate any medical care you may need after discharge, including scheduling appointments or providing referrals to specialty care including infectious disease treatment, pain management services, sleep disorder evaluation and treatment, women’s health services, prenatal care, and others.

Many people benefit from ongoing behavioral or mental health services after leaving treatment to help manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, or other mental health concerns. Your case manager helps coordinate individual therapy, psychiatric medication management, trauma-focused counseling, grief counseling, or support groups before you are discharged.

When someone you love struggles with drugs or alcohol, it can be hard to know what to do or how to help. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania offers support for those who love someone with Substance Use Disorder by providing emotional support, connecting families and their loved ones to treatment and other resources, and offering opportunities to learn about substance use disorders. Skilled family peer support specialists have personal experience caring for someone with substance use disorder in their own families and they use what they’ve learned to help others facing this situation.

If you are experiencing an emergency or a crisis, call 988 or 911. If you have thoughts of suicide or are struggling with anxiety, depression, or drugs or alcohol, 988 can provide support. 911 can dispatch police, fire, or emergency medical services. These services work together, so calling either service can get you the help you need in an emergency.
