Registered Nurse (RN)

As a Registered Nurse (RN) at a Recovery Centers of America Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) facility, you’ll be a part of our inspiring mission of helping people jumpstart their recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Your expertise as a Registered Nurse (RN) will aid inpatient recovery, as you support and implement effective techniques that will make a real difference in the lives of patients, their families, and communities.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Administer/dispense methadone in accordance with State and Federal regulations and ensure that adequate recording of the transaction has occurred
• Ensure that the treatment plan of the physician or medical director is being followed
• Giving and interpreting of the Mantoux test
• Assess patient response to treatment and medication dosage/interactions and determine appropriateness for dosing
• Educates patients about methadone/buprenorphine and their side effects. Counsels patients re: personal hygiene, abnormal lab results, HIV/AIDS testing, and all medical matters including changes in treatment
• Discusses with physician and staff important changes in treatment or noted patterns of behavior affecting treatment
• Understand how to recognize and manage an opiate overdose
• To understand the clinical benefits and limitations of urine screens, toxicology, and other testing procedures
• Provides referral for specialized care at local health centers (e.g., Planned Parenthood, prenatal clinic, etc.) and follows-up on patient’s attendance and treatment
• Assists in organizing transfers of patients to and from the program; verifies methadone dosage verbally with nurses of other programs.

Education and Experience:

• Active state Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Jersey is a requirement
• Must maintain continuing education credits as required by the state
• One (1) year experience or knowledge in the field of drug abuse recommended.
