With fentanyl addiction on the rise, Camden County gains another methadone center

A medication-assisted treatment center authorized to dispense methadone and other medications for people with drug and alcohol addictions recently opened in a strip of medical offices here, less than a 10-minute walk from the Lindenwold train station.

Operated by Recovery Centers of America, Bravo Medical celebrated its grand opening Wednesday with the borough’s mayor and police chief among the dignitaries.

Once relegated to urban centers like Camden and Atlantic City, smaller medication-assisted treatment programs are quietly gaining ground in South Jersey’s suburbs, as fentanyl-related overdose deaths continue to surge statewide. In 2017, the most recent figures available, Camden County tied with Essex County for the highest number of drug-related deaths in the state.
