“Maryland must meet its mandate to address overdose crisis among inmates”
Dr. Carolyn Thangawng, RCA’s State Medical Director for Maryland, was featured recently in an Op-Ed in Maryland Matters highlighting her testimony given as part of the Community Overdose Action Town Hall Series. Dr. Thangawng’s testimony focused on how to address the overdose crisis in the criminal justice system, where incarcerated individuals face a high risk of post-release overdose due to inadequate access to evidence-based treatments like medications for opioid use disorder (OUD).
