Coping through the Coronavirus

Recovery Centers of America

Heidi Ginter, Recovery Centers of America’s chief medical officer for Danvers and Westminster, said the centers are maintaining the CDC and state’s recommendation for “social distancing.”

Both centers are still running and accepting patients. Ginter said the Danvers center has around 120 beds and is full most nights.

Employees are temperature checked each day to make sure they’re fit to work and no cases of COVID-19 have been reported at either facility according to Ginter.

Although inpatient services remain mostly the same, albeit in smaller groups locally, outpatient programs have changed over to being online only, meeting via web programs such as Zoom or WebEx.

“It’s just a change in paradigm,” Ginter said. “You do feel like you’re part of a group.”

Ginter stressed that RCA remains open as a healthcare facility, and anyone seeking treatment for addiction can still get the help they need.
