Addiction is a disease of isolation that wants you to believe that you are alone—that no one understands what you’re going through. However, there are many people who have walked the path to recovery who can offer guidance and support. At Recovery Centers of America, our Alumni Association is a community of former patients who are living their lives in recovery and are dedicated to helping others do the same.
Whether you’re with us for one day or 30, you’re a member of the Alumni Association. This is part of our continuum of care, bringing together a supportive network of individuals who have been where you are and understand the challenges you face. They can offer advice, lend an empathetic ear, and celebrate your successes with you. Our alumni community can make a difference in your recovery.

Benefits of an Alumni Program
How can being an active member of the Alumni Association make a difference in your recovery journey? While it might seem like leaving treatment is the end of your journey, it’s just the beginning. The real work happens when you return to your everyday life and face triggers and temptations to use.
This is where our alumni community becomes invaluable. By connecting with others who have gone through similar experiences, you can gain valuable insights and strategies for navigating these challenges. You can also learn from their mistakes and successes, giving you a more well-rounded perspective on your own recovery.
1. Support
Success in recovery can be difficult to achieve on your own, but with the support and guidance of others who have been through it, you can increase your chances. RCA alumni have consistent support from their peers, and Alumni Coordinators create a strong foundation for lasting recovery. Alumni Coordinators check in regularly with our alumni and offer continued guidance, resources, and support. Our alumni also have access to a full calendar of both in-person and virtual meetings, providing them with a sense of encouragement and support no matter where they are.
2. Community
Feeling connected to others who understand your struggles can help combat feelings of isolation and loneliness, which are common triggers for relapse. Our alumni community provides a safe space where you can share your experiences, ask for advice, and build meaningful relationships with those who have been through similar struggles. Monthly sober events provide opportunities for alumni to experience the camaraderie and fellowship found in our community.
3. Service
By giving back to others in recovery, you can deepen your own sense of purpose and fulfillment. Our alumni community offers opportunities for service, including:
- Becoming an Alumni in Mentorship
- Chairing a virtual meeting
- Speaking with patients 1:1 or in groups
- Participating in community volunteer opportunities
This is not an exhaustive list, as our Alumni Coordinators are constantly seeking new ways for alumni to support one another and be of service to the community. By giving back, you can contribute to the well-being of others while also strengthening your own recovery journey.
