Addiction, and particularly the opioid epidemic, were already major problems in the United States prior to the pandemic. But in the last year, the situation has only grown worse, as anxiety, unemployment and isolation have increased during the COVID-19 crisis, exacerbating struggles with drugs and alcohol.
