How to Recognize an Overdose at a Music Festival | Fox 32 Chicago

Festival season means packed crowds, high energy, and unfortunately sometimes a friend or family member ending up in a medical tent. It could be from heat exhaustion or something more dangerous. If you’ve ever stood next to someone at a concert and wondered, “Is this normal or is this an emergency?” Knowing what to look for can save a life.

Karen Wolownik Albert, CEO of Recovery Centers of America at St. Charles and RCA Outpatient Services in Rolling Meadows, joined Fox 32 Chicago to break down what an overdose actually looks like: vomiting, skin that’s suddenly cold and clammy or hot and sweaty, lips or fingertips turning blue, trouble breathing, or an unusual gurgling or coughing sound.
