TRENTON, N.J., Feb. 14, 2019: – Medication Assisted Treatment or “MAT” is the most talked about treatment solution to the opioid crisis around the country. Recovery Centers of America (“RCA”) is celebrating the opening of a MAT Clinic in Trenton, NJ at an Open House event scheduled for February 28, 2019, from 12-2. At the event, the public and reporters are welcome to tour the facility, called the “Trenton Healthcare Clinic.”
Recovery Centers of America is expanding its addiction treatment services to provide MAT because many patients desperately need local access to this important treatment. MAT at Trenton Healthcare Clinic is not just methadone treatment but combines outpatient counseling with one of the following FDA-approved medications: buprenorphine, VIVITROL®, or methadone. Patients come in at the same time each day to receive their dose and go to counseling 1-3 times per week.
RCA believes in providing patients with all the tools needed for a meaningful recovery from drugs and alcohol and Medication Assisted Treatment is an effective treatment in the battle against addiction. MAT is not a new treatment but, as opiates have become more powerful, it is increasingly looked to for its success in helping people suffering from an opioid addiction into lasting recovery.
Dr. Michael DeShields, Medical Director of Trenton Healthcare, will speak at the event about “MAT as the most proven intervention and treatment in combating the opiate abuse epidemic.” Dr. Nigahus Karabluut, Program Physician, will speak on “The important socio-economic impacts of the Trenton Healthcare Clinic on our community.” RCA CEO Brian O’Neill will discuss the opioid crisis and the need to get people into treatment.
Local MAT clinics are desperately needed since patients must travel to the MAT facility DAILY to receive their dose and get counseling, a time-consuming process that must be incorporated into their daily work and family schedules in order to maintain their lives in recovery. In addition to morning hours, Trenton Healthcare Clinic will be offering evening hours to assist patients with their busy schedules. RCA’s Trenton Healthcare Clinic accepts Medicaid and private pay patients.
Recovery Centers of America is on the front lines of the opioid crisis treating nearly 5,000 patients in New Jersey since 2016, at its Mays Landing and Vorhees facilities, and over 15,000 patients nationwide.
RCA will open an additional MAT facility in Delaware County, PA and is looking at opening other locations in New Jersey as well in 2019.
In addition to MAT, Trenton Healthcare Clinic provides short and long term detoxification. intensive outpatient services, individual and group counseling, assessments, HIV counseling, medical examinations, and community education.
Addiction is a disease and providing medication for some patients suffering from the devastating effects of this disease is vital to recovery. Each person’s treatment regimen is unique and a wide variety of treatment regimens are needed to combat addiction including traditional abstinence and 12-step programs and MAT. Whatever works for an individual should be utilized to get an addicted individual into recovery and there should be no stigma attached to any treatment.
Recovery Centers of America provides evidence-based comprehensive addiction treatment at six inpatient residential facilities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Maryland. A full spectrum of outpatient treatment is also provided at many of those facilities.
