Flexible Outpatient Programs
for Lasting Recovery
Our Programs
Outpatient and Telehealth
RCA offers two levels of outpatient treatment: partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP)—also known as day treatment. Individualized care is delivered by the industry’s leading medical and recovery experts at our centers or via telehealth. Each outpatient program includes a variety of specialized services for addiction treatment, such as intensive 12-Step programming and transformative family support.
Outpatient Treatment: What to Expect
Assessment
A comprehensive biopsychosocial and medical assessment, where appropriate, can determine the most clinically appropriate level of care for your individual needs.
Individual Therapy Sessions
Individual therapy and case management are provided to RCA patients in treatment at our outpatient locations. Patients will meet with their therapist on-site or through our HIPAA-secure telehealth platform, when needed.
Group Therapy Sessions
Group sessions allow you and your peers the opportunity to communicate, share, and process thoughts, behaviors, and experiences in a trusted environment. This is the primary setting in which many recovery skills are taught. You’ll build positive connections with peers and the wider recovery community. Group sessions are available in person, in a hybrid format, and remotely.
RCA's Alumni Association
The time our patients spend with us in our inpatient or outpatient treatment programs is only the beginning of a lifelong journey in recovery. It’s important to stay connected with recovery and others who have shared similar experiences in life. With the RCA Alumni Association, you can attend meetings and events and join others who have been in treatment at RCA.
Medication Assisted Treatment
Medication can be an important tool in managing withdrawal symptoms and maintaining sobriety. This may include medications to address mental health disorders as well as medications used to treat addiction, known as medication for addiction treatment.
Self-Help and 12-Step Involvement
Recovery is most successful with the support of a community of others who have fought the same disease and are there to support each other. In combination with outpatient treatment services, patients are educated about self-help and community support. This includes 12-Step fellowships like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). Patients are encouraged to attend meetings, find a sponsor, and work through the 12 Steps. The road to recovery is different for every individual, RCA encourages patients to explore all peer-based organizations, like Smart Recovery and Rational Recovery. RCA supports patients to connect to all forms of self-help community to remain on the road to recovery.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
This program is offered during the day, Monday through Friday. This level of care provides intense structure and support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Many patients attend PHP upon completion of inpatient hospitalization.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
This program is offered during the day and evening several times per week. This schedule allows patients to work on their recovery and maintain other important work, family, and other commitments. Many patients attend IOP upon completion of PHP.
Telehealth Addiction Treatment
In addition to our in-person outpatient addiction treatment programs, we also provide telehealth outpatient care via HIPAA-compliant web and video conferencing. You’ll still receive the same evidence-based, accredited treatment RCA is known for—just from your home.
An Outpatient Success Story
After completing inpatient treatment at RCA, Michael B. recognized the need for continued care in his ongoing recovery. Living two hours away from the center, Michael was able to participate in an intensive outpatient program through telehealth. The result has been what he describes as “lifelines,” a strong support community united in their shared goal of lasting recovery.
“It’s nice to have that support group. I call them the ‘lifelines.’ And that’s what it’s really become – it’s become a lifeline for a lot of people.”
