Behavioral Healthcare Executive: RCA expands insurance coverage deal with Aetna

Via Behavioral Healthcare Executive.

In an effort to make its treatment services more accessible and affordable, Recovery Centers of America announced it has expanded its health insurance coverage agreement with Aetna to include its facilities in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Massachusetts. With prior coverage agreements in place for its Delaware and New Jersey facilities, RCA will now provide in-network substance use disorder treatment services for Aetna customers at all of its facilities.

Brenda Babbitt, RCA’s director of managed care, says the expanded deal is part of the company’s broader strategy to go in-network with more insurers, improving access to treatment while controlling costs for patients.

“Our goal is to eliminate as many barriers as possible,” she says. “We want people to be able to get the treatment that they’re seeking. One of the barriers we’ve identified is high deductibles, co-pays and co-insurance associated with out-of-network reimbursement. By being in-network, the health plans supply a lower out-of-pocket cost for the patient, which makes it much easier for them to get the treatment and not worry about getting home and having a big bill in the mail. They’ll know up front how much their deductible and co-pays are.”

Aetna customers will be covered for RCA’s full range of addiction treatment services, including: inpatient and outpatient treatment programs, detox, and medication-assisted treatment.
