ST. CHARLES – Recovery Centers of America at St. Charles recently hosted a ribbon-cutting event on Facebook Live to mark its official opening.
According to a news release, the event featured recorded greetings from local elected officials, including U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Naperville, State. Rep. Dan Ugaste, R-Geneva, State Rep. Jeff Keicher, R-Sycamore and State Sen. Dave Syverson, R-Rockford.
The facility received official licensure approvals and opened its doors in September to begin providing its model of holistic community-based care for those who are suffering from drug and alcohol addictions, specially tailored to foster long-term recovery, the release stated.
According to the news release, the need for treatment is great. Last year 2,098 people died in this state from opioid overdoses, and it is estimated that 20 million Americans are suffering from substance use disorder. According to the Illinois Department of Human Services, overdose deaths are rising at faster rate so far in 2020 over prior years in the Chicagoland region.
RCA St. Charles’ 125-acre campus is located on a former school site near Campton Hills, which has been remodeled to serve as a serene and safe environment for patients and their families. The campus is equipped to serve up to 120 patients. When fully occupied, RCA expects to bring close to 150 jobs to the community. The grand opening event was conducted virtually to optimize COVID-19 precautions, the release stated.
