Recovery Centers of America at Lighthouse Spiritual Advisor and Alumni Member Discuss Christian Faith and Recovery
Authored by Nick Goldberg
On Saturday, October 2, 2021, John Demasi, host of South Jersey radio show Talk With A Purpose, hosted Pastor Zack Caracostantakis (‘Pastor Zack’), Spiritual Advisor at Recovery Centers of America at Lighthouse, as well as RCA at Lighthouse alum Keoma D.
As Pastor Zack recounts his story, he shares the epiphany that sparked his recovery journey: “While I was getting high, I heard this internal voice that spoke to me and the voice said, ‘Why are you wasting your life?’ And it was at that moment where I thought, ‘man, something bigger than myself is reaching out to me.’” From there, Pastor Zack describes his spiritual path in recovery and how Christian faith has fundamentally figured into it.
RCA at Lighthouse alumni member Keoma D describes his experience being homeless and addicted to drugs at the age 15 in Providence, Rhode Island. As he drifted into darker places in his addiction, the only solace he found was through his Christian faith. While this allowed him temporary periods of recovery, they didn’t last. But one day he happened upon the message of Pastor Jason Krail, which led him to receive treatment at Lighthouse and particularly through its Christian addiction treatment program, Freedom. He has been living free from drugs ever since.
