On Saturday, May 1, 2021, John Demasi, host of South Jersey radio show Talk With A Purpose, hosted RCA recovery advocate Pastor Jason Krail (“Pastor Jay”) and RCA Alumni Relation Coordinator Robert Whedbee, as part of his ongoing series Fighting the Opioid Epidemic.
Having each suffered from a substance use disorder, Jay and Bob relayed their inspiring stories of struggle and recovery.
Ahead of Jay’s recounting, Demasi remarked, “we have ordered extra tissues.”
Indeed, as Jay says, “my soul was in anguish, my heart was broken, and my life was just riddled with pain.”
And yet now, he is approaching 10 years of recovery on June 11th, having completely transformed his life.
Robert Whedbee, in addition to sharing his own story, conveyed the important work carried out by RCA’s Alumni Association in helping those who have received treatment through RCA stay connected as part of a support network for a lifetime of recovery.
