How Can Outpatient Treatment Help My Addiction?

Your recovery journey might start with inpatient treatment, but it shouldn’t end there. Outpatient treatment is part of a continuum of care for addiction treatment that can help you avoid relapse, manage your recovery, and maintain long-term sobriety. While every level of care has a role in the recovery process, outpatient treatment can help you transition back to everyday life with the support and tools you need to stay on track.

At Recovery Centers of America, we believe that comprehensive treatment should involve a combination of inpatient and outpatient care. Our outpatient treatment programs are designed to provide ongoing support and resources for patients who are ready for a less intensive level of care.

Types of Outpatient Addiction Treatment Programs

At Recovery Centers of America, we offer two types of outpatient addiction treatment programs: partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP). Both programs involve structured treatment sessions during the week, but they differ in intensity and frequency.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

A PHP, also known as day treatment, involves a more rigorous level of care compared to IOP. It typically includes five or more days of treatment per week for several hours each day.

The transition from inpatient to outpatient treatment can be a challenge. The structure, support, and accountability provided by PHP can help you ease into a lower level of care while still receiving necessary therapy and support.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

An IOP involves fewer treatment hours per week compared to a PHP. This allows patients to continue attending school, work, or other responsibilities while still prioritizing their recovery.

Although the number of treatment hours per week is lower, IOP still provides a structured and supportive environment. It’s an ideal option for those who have completed a higher level of care and who would benefit from continued support and accountability.

Benefits of Outpatient Treatment for Addiction

How can outpatient treatment help your addiction? Some of the key benefits of outpatient rehab programs include:

  • Support for transition to everyday life – Outpatient treatment can help you bridge the gap between inpatient care and returning to your regular daily routine.
  • Continued therapy and counseling – Outpatient programs offer ongoing individual and group therapy sessions to address any underlying issues or triggers that may contribute to relapse.
  • Flexibility for work, school, and family responsibilities – With outpatient treatment, you can continue fulfilling your responsibilities while receiving support for your recovery.
  • Connection with a sober support network – Outpatient treatment provides opportunities to connect with peers who are also in recovery, forming a strong support system for your journey.

At every level of care, our goal at Recovery Centers of America is to help you make changes that lead to a lifetime of recovery.

How to Choose the Right Outpatient Treatment Program

Not sure what level of care is right for you? Our admissions team can help you determine whether outpatient treatment is the best fit for your needs.

When choosing an outpatient treatment program, it’s important to consider factors such as:

  • The level of care needed – Depending on the severity of your addiction and any co-occurring disorders, a higher or lower level of care may be more appropriate.
  • Location and accessibility – Choosing a program that is conveniently located close to your home or work can make it easier for you to attend sessions regularly.
  • The treatment approach – At Recovery Centers of America, we offer evidence-based therapy and personalized treatment plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Insurance coverage – Our team can help verify your insurance coverage and determine the best payment options for you.

Reaching out for help is the first step on your journey to recovery. Whether you choose an outpatient treatment program or another level of care, know that support and resources are available to help you overcome addiction.
