We are pleased to host Lexi Mulee, MA, LMHC, CASACT founder of Wise Mind Individual Counseling for this special speaker series event. This course will focus on the application of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to clients struggling with SUD.

Sometimes working with clients who struggle with SUD and addiction can be very difficult. DBT can help! This workshop covers the application of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to clients with substance use disorders. Participants will specifically learn how DBT can be extremely effective for clients with SUD, and how we, as providers, can supply them with tangible, accessible, and effective coping skills that they can use in their lives. It will be reviewed as well, the different forms of DBT, including individual sessions, group skills, phone coaching, and treatment teams and how and when each might be best utilized for unique client cases. We will review and gain a deeper understanding of how to actively engage clients through DBT to provide them with goal-oriented direction, purpose, and self-love.
– Discuss the history and origins of DBT
– Review the structure and modules DBT
– Gain a deeper understanding of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness
– Identify how DBT can be applied with Addiction and SUD
– Gain DBT techniques and tools to use specifically with the SUD population
Lexi Mulee, MA, LMHC, CASACT, is a licensed mental health clinician in the state of New York and specializes in areas of dialectical behavioral therapy and applying it with populations including substance use disorders, eating disorders, and borderline personality disorders. Lexi Mulee, founder of Wise Mind Individual Counseling, maintains a private psychotherapy practice specializing in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She got her undergraduate degree at Hofstra University and pursued her graduate degree at the University of Miami. Lexi has been in the field for over 7 years and works extensively with each client to ensure their personalized goals are being met. Lexi works extensively with individuals struggling with substance use disorder, eating disorder, and borderline personality disorder, and uses the power of DBT to do so. Having both experiences of working at the inpatient level of care and the outpatient level of care, Lexi works uniquely with each client to ensure that their treatment is never once size fits all, but rather personalized for each individual’s needs and strengths. It is the DBT belief, and Lexi’s personal style, to view the relationship between client and clinician as equal partners in your journey.
