Catherine, BSN has been a Registered Nurse for the last 8 years. As a second career, and with a prior Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, she obtained an Associate’s degree in nursing in 2011 and began her career in the Emergency Department.
In 2017 she obtained her BSN, while still continuing as an ER nurse. It was during her time as an ER nurse that she often experienced with patients and families the devastating effects of substance abuse. This compelled her to accept a floor nurse position with the Maryland Center for Addiction treatment in March of 2018 when it opened it’s doors. Within 3 months Catherine shifted from an occasional floor nurse at MCAT and full-time ER nurse, to a full-time RN Case Manager at MCAT and an occasional ER floor nurse.
In July of 2019, Catherine accepted the Director of Nursing position at MCAT, and truly feels that she has found her nursing niche in substance abuse treatment and nursing management. She is currently looking forward to graduating in December 2020 with her Master’s of Science in Nursing to become a family nurse practitioner.
