RCA Clinical Director and Director of Interventions Describe the Real Work of Recovery
On Saturday, June 5, 2021, John Demasi, host of South Jersey radio show Talk With A Purpose, hosted RCA’s Associate Director of Intervention Robert Strauber and RCA at Lighthouse’s Clinical Director Crystal Fabrizio, as part of his ongoing series Fighting the Opioid Epidemic.
Demasi opens by lightheartedly asking Strauber if his work as an interventionist is anything like the television show of that name. Strauber laughs, replying instead that the real work lacks the chaos and drama of Hollywood depictions, and explains that the aim is “full lasting recovery and healing for the entire family.”
Crystal Fabrizio highlighted how “over the pandemic, there’s been a really large increase in different addictions, specifically gambling” and how RCA at Lighthouse has risen to the challenge by creating a treatment enhancement service, Rewired, which provides treatment for compulsive gambling at the same time as someone receives treatment at Lighthouse for addiction to drugs or alcohol.
