Alexandra Armstrong

Director of Outpatient Services

In her role as Outpatient Director, Alexandra (Alix) brings years of experience in the substance use disorder field to RCA at Monroeville. She first entered the field in 1988, serving the front lines of direct care. Through her years of experience, Alix has served adolescents and adults in the positions of Psychiatric Tech, Outreach Worker, Inpatient and Outpatient Counselor, Clinical Supervisor, and Program Director with a specialty in working with those seeking treatment for co-occurring disorders, maternal addiction, withdrawal management and medication-assisted treatment. She has training experience in topics related to recovery and tobacco cessation treatment. Alix values the creation of a treatment environment which offers evidence-based practices in a safe, nurturing environment provided by a treatment team that places the clients’ recovery goals as the focus of their experience. Alix is a 1995 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, specializing in Community Behavioral Health. She earned her Pennsylvania CAADC in 2003.
