How 12-Steps are Implemented in Recovery
The 12-step model is only one part of the comprehensive support that we provide at any of our facilities. Our program combines the 12-step modality with behavioral therapies, motivational enhancement therapy, psychiatric care, and other psychosocial methods.
We fully embrace the 12 steps as an important part of recovery support, but also realize that it can be most beneficial when used in conjunction with other modalities. We encourage thorough self-evaluation during group and individual therapy sessions, including spiritual guidance and transformation.
We also apply the TRI Open Doorways Toolkit to introduce the 12-step Fellowship to patients. This is achieved by guiding patients through five major sessions, all supplementing the program to help our patients build a fraternity of other friends in recovery so that they can spend time exploring new people, places, and things.
Patients will have the opportunity to voice their preconceptions and concerns of committing to the 12-step Fellowship, learn the benefits of using the 12 steps in their recovery, and identify ways to become involved.
