Designed for Women

The Recovery Centers of America Young Women’s Addiction Program is a clinical product tailored to the needs of women aged 18-28.

The program consists of gender-separate accommodations, sessions and activities, additional clinical programming, additional non-clinical (activity-based) programming, program delivery optimizations, and additional staff credentialing and certification to meet the needs of the young women we serve.

Tailored to the Needs of Young Adult

The program is tailored to the needs of young adult women who are suffering from addiction. These women frequently experience the following:

  • Intense trauma
  • Codependency on partners (often male and sexual in nature)
  • Damaged self-esteem
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Self-harm
  • Shame
  • Guilt
  • Eating disorders
  • Lack of direction in life
  • Concerns over the possibility of having disrupted the ‘normal life trajectory’ – missing key developmental milestones

Five Common Challenges

The Common Challenges Young Women Struggling with Addiction Face in Early Recovery

Gender separation: acknowledges and addresses the importance of presenting a positive atmosphere where a young woman can feel safe and secure.

Female-Only Groups: Women-only group meetings encourage young women to express themselves without sexual distraction, tension, fear or other complications that could exist in a mixed gender group.

Therapeutic Approach: Our therapies are specifically tailored to target the issues of co-dependency and restoring self-esteem

Recover Independence: Through our Life Skills Training for Young Women, our patients begin to recover or develop the basic tools a young woman needs to live a life in recovery.

Focus: Each group will be delivered in 30-minute increments to accommodate the attention span and learning styles of a young woman.

Back to Basics: These are the skills that help a young woman regain her independence and self-reliance.

Life Skills Training includes:

  • Dealing with difficult people
  • Credit repair
  • Resume-writing
  • Interviewing skills
  • Cooking on a budget

Life After Treatment: Life Skills Training also includes programs focused on living choices after inpatient treatment:

  • living at home
  • sober living options
  • location/neighborhood: price, crime, proximity to public transportation and more

Addressing Trauma: Women experience trauma differently than men. Therefore, their needs are approached differently in treatment.

Understanding Trauma: Our therapists are trained in the types and patterns of trauma that a young woman battling substance use disorder might have experienced.

Treating Trauma: Our clinicians are highly skilled in integrating evidence-based practices combining time-tested and research-supported techniques from several scientific and psychological disciplines to meet the individual needs of our patients.

Recover Life: Our therapies enable a young woman to address her past and helps her face her future with positivity and confidence.

A New Start: Addiction robs a young woman of key milestones of her life. We have created Seminars and workshops, as well as individual therapies, that help a young woman begin to restore some of the essentials in life: education, career, marriage, motherhood, and other social skills.

Recover Hope: Through group and individual therapy, our patients in the young women’s program will find the motivation to find hope after their time in treatment. They can enter the world with renewed confidence and a new sense of self-esteem.

Body. Mind. Spirit: Our therapies embrace all elements of life:

  • Fitness and wellness counseling and instruction
  • Individual Nutritional Consulting (when requested)
  • Spiritual Advisor (when requested)

A Sisterhood of hope and healing: Our women-only programs and therapy promote new friendships and trust among young women in the program. Relationships will be formed that may last far after treatment. By removing any mixed gender distractions, young women will have the freedom to share and express themselves fully to other young women and therapist. ss themselves fully to other young women and therapist.

Recover Confidence: The hope and healing within a single gender approach promote new found confidence and allows a young woman to find a new voice on her road to meaningful recovery.
