Our intensive Family Program includes individual & group counseling, family therapy and educational seminars designed to heal you & your family, together.
Our Comprehensive Family Program
Studies show that a patient’s likelihood of achieving and maintaining long-term recovery increases significantly when their family or support group actively participate in the treatment and recovery process. For this reason, all of our patients and their families are strongly encouraged to participate in our weekly family therapy sessions. Within the first two days of entering treatment, our team will reach out to the patient’s primary support network (as identified by the patient) and brief them on what to expect when your loved one is in treatment as well as strategies to support them. Families are invited to participate in therapy within the first 7 days of their loved one’s treatment.
During these sessions, our Masters-Level Clinicians work with patients and their families to heal family dynamics and develop healthy communication and relationships that can act as a solid support system during patients’ long-term recovery. We also invite families to participate in our tailored educational seminars, which includes Narcan training. communication and boundary setting, the journey of recovery, and more.
As part of our family programming, we will:
- Contact the family (with the patient’s permission) within 2 days of the patient being admitted into our facility
- Engage with the family within 3 days of the patient entering treatment, briefing them on what to expect when your loved one is in treatment as well as strategies to support them
- Administer a family therapy session within the first 7 days of patient’s inpatient treatment
All family members who wish to visit the patient, must participate in an orientation first. This includes an RCA orientation and Narcan training as well as one of the following educational seminars:
- The Brain & Addiction
- Empowering and Healing the Family System
- Communication and Boundary Setting
- The Journey of Recovery
- Supporting Your Young Adult Through Recovery
By participating in these seminars, families will be better positioned to help support their loved one throughout recovery.
Many of our sites offer monthly family support groups and discussion panels, where families within the community can connect and heal together. Past alumni and their families offer guidance, hope and support to patients and their families currently in recovery.

Seeds To Recovery Program
We invite families to participate in our brand-new Seeds to Recovery program. This program is designed to help families heal together by providing positive interactive and therapeutic activities that help foster and support long-term recovery. Families will receive a sunflower seed that they can water and watch grow together, as they too grow on the road to recovery. Some of our program features include:
- Educational Seminars: These educational seminars educate families on the root causes of addiction, how to support your loved one on the road to recovery and more.
- Interactive Therapeutic Activities: We offer interactive activities to help families connect in a positive way as well as develop healthy communication and coping strategies.
- Special Programming for Families of Young Adults: For families of young adults in treatment, we offer special programming that works on healing family dynamics as well as developing independence for the patient.
Our Seeds to Recovery program is the second Saturday and Sunday every month at our Devon addiction recovery center. Our goal is to empower families and restore family dynamics so that they can heal, together.
“The visual learning that everyone experienced kept communication open and active. RCA’s program was the most effective I’ve attended in the 5 years I’ve dealt with my son’s active addiction” -Mother of a young adult male
“The whole program was beneficial, but I especially liked the spirituality component. It’s the one thing that I have not experienced in parent support programs that I have attended in the past” -Mother of a young adult female patient
“I loved sharing the experience with my family and the interactive activities. It helped to create a connection regarding addiction. I learned that my family supports me and is eager to learn about what I am going through” -Patient
“Most beneficial was learning to reconnect in a positive way without judgement. That I can love my addict and hate the disease and I learned to separate the journeys and seek the help for yourself and let my loved one work on his recovery”
-Wife of a patient
“I learned that I need help/ support as much as my loved one and that’s OK” -Girlfriend of a patient
