RCA Launches Treatment Programs for Young Adults

Recovery Centers of America

Recovery Centers of America (RCA) announced it is launching gender-specific substance use disorder treatment programs for young adults at two of its inpatient facilities this month, with similar programming to roll out at the rest of the provider’s locations throughout the year.

The programs, designed for men ages 18-34 and women ages 18-28, provide a clinical curriculum that is “hyper-targeted to the needs and concerns of young people while minimizing distractions,” according to an RCA news release. The men’s program extends to a later age because women’s brains develop into full adulthood at a younger age, RCA Vice President of Clinical Services Scott Weisenberger told Behavioral Healthcare Executive in an emailed response.

Treatment sessions will be short by design to keep patients engaged, and each program will also feature:

  • Age- and gender-specific accommodations
  • Clinical therapy sessions to address common treatment concerns
  • Non-clinical activities and educational sessions for personal and professional development

Weisenberger said the programs will be administered by existing RCA staff and clinicians at the company’s Devon (Pennsylvania) and Bracebridge Hall (Maryland) facilities who are trained and credentialed to work with young adult populations. Non-clinical programming for topics such as banking, personal finance and career development will be conducted by third-party specialists.
