Recovery Centers of America is taking part in International Overdose Awareness Day 2018, August 31, with a variety of events being held at or near most of our locations.
International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event dedicated to recognizing those we have loved – and lost, to overdose deaths, those whose lives have been irreversibly changed by overdose, as well as to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death.
Founded in 2001 by Sally J Finn, communities and organizations around the world have come together each year to raise awareness and commemorate those who have been lost to overdose.
Overdose is a horrible, heart-wrenching thing to see someone you care for go through. Some survive to keep fighting another day, and hopefully, after being shaken by this frightening event, are more open to receiving help with recovery. Some are less fortunate. Overdose has taken so many lives in our country, affecting every single person in the support systems of every life lost.
On August 31, RCA invites you to participate in any of our events, where we will be remembering those we have lost in the battle against addiction, and fostering a community of education and knowledge of overdose, addiction and recovery.
