Employment, Legal and Financial Assistance
We want you to focus on one thing while you’re in treatment: Getting well. That’s why you will have both a Financial Counselor and a Case Manager to help you navigate all logistics while in treatment, including:
What’s the cost of rehab?
Much like the cost for other medical treatment, there is a cost for receiving addiction treatment. The cost of rehab can be daunting, but you won’t have to face it alone with Recovery Centers of America. RCA is in network with most major insurance plans to make treatment affordable and accessible.
RCA is committed to providing the highest quality care to our patients. Right now, the healthcare industry is facing a serious affordability crisis and addiction treatment is no exception. RCA has tools and staff to help patients estimate and plan for the costs of care.
Whether your insurance is in-network or out-of-network, there are 3 potential areas you may be financially responsible for: a co-pay, a deductible, and/or co-insurance. All of these depend on the insurance you chose during open enrollment; they are unique to each person. Here’s a quick breakdown of each:
Our Mission Center Treatment Advisors will verify your insurance and tell you an estimated patient financial responsibility and how much your co-pay, deductible, and/or co-insurance might be if you seek treatment with RCA.
If your insurance is out-of-network, you may have additional out-of-network financial responsibility depending on your unique insurance plan. Our Treatment Advisors will estimate the cost in these circumstances as well and provide convenient payment options to fit your budget.
You will have an estimated cost of your treatment with Recovery Centers of America before you enter our facilities.
Let’s say you aren’t able to afford your deductible, or you are paying for treatment out-of-pocket. Our Treatment Advisors will get you in touch with FinPay, our third-party payment plan provider. Their Payment Specialists, who are located within our contact center, will help you figure out a payment plan that works for you.
FinPay’s mission is to provide patients with a helpful, simple financial experience. Together, we have one simple goal: Provide education, transparency, and payment options that make patient bills affordable.
Here are a few reasons why RCA partners with FinPay:
Once you’ve arrived at RCA, a Financial Counselor will meet with you and once again go over your health benefits. If you’re working with FinPay, your Financial Counselor will help facilitate this process or tie up any loose ends.
You’ll also be assigned your own Case Manager, who will help you navigate treatment, work with your Primary Therapist to determine which specialized programs would be a good fit, and support and care for your overall well-being.
Will I lose my job if I enter treatment?
Can I lose my job for entering addiction treatment? Does short term disability cover rehab? What’s Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and am I qualified for it?
These are all questions your Financial Counselor will help you understand and answer. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) states substance abuse is considered a disability. In fact, because of this ADA designation, substance abuse disorder treatment is considered a Serious Health Condition by U.S. federal regulations and eligible for FMLA protection.
With that in mind, not all employers provide FMLA. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, covered employers are able to provide unpaid leave while offering job protection. If your job doesn’t provide FMLA, you may still be able to apply for an ADA accommodation.
It’s a lot to take in, especially if you’re still trying to comprehend and accept addiction treatment. This is where our Case Managers step in to take the weight off your shoulders.
With your consent, your Financial Counselor will reach out to your company’s HR department confidentially and let them know you’re receiving medical treatment. From here, the appropriate forms will be requested to help secure your employment. Financial Counselors will also help you work through short-term disability applications when applicable.
Your Financial Counselor will assist with applying for Cobra if eligible. Because you are in treatment, you are not eligible for unemployment as you must be able to work. Once treatment is complete, you may apply for unemployment.
If you’ve been terminated before or after treatment, and you had insurance coverage through your employer, Case Managers will help you obtain Cobra. Cobra gives employees the ability to continue health insurance coverage on a month-to-month basis. Financial Counselors will help obtain the Cobra paperwork to get this started and work through the process to continue coverage.
Handling legal issues while in treatment
We know life doesn’t stop when you enter addiction treatment – things may pop up, like legal issues. Your Case Manager will meet with you on a regular basis, and work through any issues – legally, emotionally, employment-wise – that may come about during your time with us.
Can I enter treatment with DUI Charges? What about my court date?
If you have any pending legal matters that will impact your treatment, your Case Manager will help you communicate with your attorney, the court, or other authority.
Let’s say you’ve received a DUI or have pending DUI charges but would still like to pursue addiction treatment. Or you’ll miss a court date if you enter treatment.
Your Case Manager will help you contact the appropriates parties to reschedule. With your written consent, your Case Manager will also write letters to your attorney and courts letting them know you’re in treatment and seeking to get on the road to recovery. They will reach out to probation officers, judges, and other legal professionals to communicate your willingness to seek treatment and achieve and maintain recovery.
If you’d like your Case Manager to reach out to your Parole or Probation Officer, they can provide updates once you have signed a consent form.
Because you will have limited access to phones and computers, your Case Manager will ensure to keep the lines of communication open for any legal proceedings that are in the midst.
Now is the time to seek treatment for your drug or alcohol addiction. Not only does RCA provide evidence-based treatment, but we are uniquely set up to help you manage employment, legal, and financial concerns at no addiction cost. We’re here to help. Contact us today.
